500 New Jobs From American Airlines

American Airlines is significantly boosting its aviation maintenance workforce by creating nearly 500 new jobs. The expansion targets three major maintenance bases located in Charlotte, North Carolina; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Tulsa, Oklahoma. This move strengthens the airline’s ability to perform heavy maintenance checks while ensuring long-term operational growth.

Job Opportunities Across Major U.S. Bases

American Airlines has posted openings for 500 new high-paying maintenance jobs on its website. These jobs primarily focus on Aircraft Maintenance Technicians (AMTs) in three locations:

Charlotte: 133 positions, with 122 AMTs.
Pittsburgh: 44 positions, with 40 AMTs.
Tulsa: 321 positions, with 227 AMTs.

This expansion of technical operations increases American Airlines’ maintenance capacity while also ensuring future growth in these critical locations.

Tulsa Expansion Fueled by $22 Million Grant

The Tulsa maintenance base expanded after receiving a $22 million grant from Oklahoma’s Business Expansion Incentive Program. This funding allowed the world’s largest commercial aircraft maintenance base to enhance its engine repair and overhaul capabilities. Over 300 new jobs have already strengthened Tulsa’s economy.

Nurturing Future Aviation Maintenance Talent

American Airlines grows its pipeline of future mechanics by partnering with aviation maintenance schools across the U.S. Schools such as Tulsa Tech and the Aviation Institute of Maintenance collaborate closely with American’s Technical Operations team. These partnerships give students valuable hands-on experience and mentorship, preparing them for real-world aviation challenges.

Students who excel in these programs and obtain FAA Airframe and Powerplant licenses receive guaranteed interviews with American Airlines. The airline also actively participates in the annual Aerospace Maintenance Council Competition, providing more opportunities for top-performing students.
