Ethiopian Airlines Adjusts Winter Flights: What You Need to Know

Ethiopian Airlines, the leading airline in Africa, announces significant changes to its flight schedule for the Addis Ababa-Hong Kong-Manila route. This adjustment reflects the airline’s response to seasonal travel demand. Starting December 2, 2024, Ethiopian Airlines will reduce its flights on this route to four per week during the busy winter season.

This temporary change will last until January 31, 2025. After this period, Ethiopian Airlines will decrease its service frequency further to three flights weekly for the remainder of the winter season. As a result, travelers heading to and from Ethiopia, Hong Kong, and the Philippines should plan their journeys accordingly.

Ethiopian Airlines operates this route with its advanced Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which offers enhanced comfort and fuel efficiency. Specifically, the airline’s flight ET644 departs Addis Ababa at 23:25 and arrives in Hong Kong the next day at 14:25. After a brief layover, the flight continues to Manila, arriving at 18:15. Notably, this flight does not operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Meanwhile, flight ET645 takes off from Manila at 20:25, reaches Hong Kong by 22:25, and departs for Addis Ababa at 23:55, landing at 05:55 the next day. This service excludes operations on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Besides the Manila service, Ethiopian Airlines will maintain its direct flights between Addis Ababa and Hong Kong, totaling seven weekly flights. This consistent service connects Africa with Asia effectively, especially during peak travel seasons.

Furthermore, Ethiopian Airlines has expanded its presence in Asia, linking vital destinations like Beijing and Tokyo with Africa. This strategy supports increased trade, tourism, and cultural exchange. The airline’s commitment to using the Boeing 787 Dreamliner enhances passengers’ travel experience through modern amenities and efficient operations.

As the travel landscape evolves, Ethiopian Airlines remains a dominant player in African and Asian aviation markets. The Addis Ababa-Hong Kong-Manila route contributes significantly to the airline’s broader strategy, reinforcing connections between these regions. Thus, travelers can rely on Ethiopian Airlines for quality service and efficient travel options.
