The Singapore Airlines Group is accelerating its recovery, carrying 99% of its August 2019 passengers. This includes Singapore Airlines and Scoot, with an impressive passenger load factor of 85.7%. Passenger Gains and Capacity Expansion
In August, the Singapore Airlines Group transported 3.27 million passengers, achieving a 9.4% year-on-year increase. This figure nearly matches the 3.31 million passengers from August 2019. Additionally, the Group boosted capacity, measured by available seat kilometers (ASK), by 10.8% year-on-year. Revenue passenger kilometers (RPK) also increased by 7.7%, despite a slight dip in load factor.

Most airlines in the Asia-Pacific region face market softening and pricing pressures, yet Singapore Airlines continues to thrive. Scoot has excelled at identifying new routes for reliable low-cost service. Meanwhile, Singapore Airlines has taken a disciplined approach, adding routes aggressively in known regions like Australia. The airline now operates over 130 weekly services to Australia, enhancing connectivity.
Fleet Management and Route Strategy
Singapore Airlines effectively manages its fleet, optimizing routes and aircraft types to adapt to the post-COVID landscape. The full-service airline utilizes six different aircraft models for seven Australian cities, including the Airbus A380, A350-900, and Boeing 737 MAX 8, among others.
Regional Performance Insights
In August, Singapore Airlines alone carried 2.17 million passengers, achieving a load factor of 84.9%. This marks a significant gain compared to 1.90 million passengers in August 2019. Despite the increase in capacity by 13.9%, the load factor fell due to softening demand, particularly from China and Northeast Asia.
Singapore Airlines analyzes load factors by five regions, revealing an overall load factor of 84.9%. While all segments showed lower performance compared to 2023, Europe led with 88.7%, followed closely by the Americas at 88.6%.
