Qantas is significantly expanding its international network by introducing new routes and upgrading its fleet. The airline plans to add around 220,000 extra seats by 2025 to meet the increasing demand in vital Asia Pacific and US markets. Consequently, this ambitious move enhances Qantas’s global footprint and improves customer travel experiences.
Beginning in February 2025, Qantas will operate a new weekly service from Brisbane to Palau, marking a first for the airline. Specifically, this route will feature the Palau Express, utilizing 737 aircraft. Moreover, this new destination aims to strengthen tourism ties between Australia and the Pacific Island, known for its stunning marine life and crystal-clear waters.
In addition to the new route, Qantas will increase its capacity to the United States by 13%. Furthermore, the return of two Airbus A380s will boost premium seating options by 30% on long-haul flights. Additionally, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner will resume operations from Brisbane, offering enhanced seating choices for routes to Los Angeles and Auckland.
QantasLink will also enhance its international offerings with the arrival of A220 aircraft. Starting in March 2025, the A220 will connect Darwin to Singapore five times a week, replacing the smaller Embraer E190. This aircraft, therefore, offers nearly double the range of the older models, making longer routes possible.
While Qantas will discontinue its Sydney-Seoul service in mid-June 2025, Jetstar will step in, increasing its flights from four times a week to daily. Consequently, this transition will provide more seats and better meet leisure travel demands between the two cities.
Ultimately, with these changes, Qantas demonstrates its commitment to adapting to market demands while enhancing customer travel experiences. As a result, travelers will enjoy more choices across its network.
