Qantas enhances its Airbus A330 fleet to boost passenger comfort on long-haul flights to Asia. With a multimillion-dollar upgrade, Qantas now features redesigned Economy seats and advanced technology for flights to Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Singapore. This significant overhaul demonstrates Qantas’ commitment to improving in-flight experiences while preparing its fleet for ultra-long-haul travel under Project Sunrise.
Moreover, the upgraded Economy seats offer more comfort and greater connectivity. Each seat includes a 13.3-inch 4K OLED screen, delivering a 20% larger viewing area than previous displays. Additionally, passengers enjoy a more interactive entertainment system, USB-C fast charging, and Bluetooth audio. They can even use personal headphones to enhance their experience. Altogether, these seats align with Qantas’ goal to improve long-haul travel.
To further elevate the cabin ambiance, Qantas also modernizes other A330 elements. Passengers will appreciate refreshed mood lighting, along with updated curtains and carpets that create a more relaxing atmosphere. Meanwhile, business travelers benefit from Qantas’ fully flat Business Suites, which are also featured on the airline’s A380 and 787 Dreamliner fleets.
In mid-2025, Qantas will begin its first A330 cabin upgrade at its Brisbane facility. By late 2025, the refurbished A330s will enter service. Furthermore, Qantas aims to complete the entire fleet upgrade by 2026.
Starting this December, Qantas is also rolling out free Wi-Fi on international A330 routes. Initially, select flights across Asia will offer this high-speed Wi-Fi, keeping passengers connected throughout their journey. As part of its broader fleet renewal, Qantas will also introduce Boeing 787 and Airbus A350 replacements for its A330s. Overall, this renewal expands Qantas’ route network, offering travelers more destinations with unmatched comfort and connectivity.
