Breeze Airways has made a significant move by adding 29 airports to its route map this year. This expansion reflects the airline’s growth since its first revenue-generating flight in May 2021. Currently, Breeze operates a fleet of 44 aircraft, including A220-300s and Embraer jets, which positions it for more domestic routes.
According to the latest schedule, the airline plans to operate 172 routes, covering 30 states in November and December. Consequently, this translates to around 8,370 roundtrip flights, averaging 137 daily services. Interestingly, flight activity fluctuates throughout the week. For instance, only 9% of flights operate on the less popular Tuesday, while Monday, Friday, and Sunday see significantly more activity.
Despite its impressive growth, Breeze Airways captures only a small fraction of the U.S. domestic market. Specifically, it holds a mere 0.63% share, operating one out of every 157 flights in the country. Therefore, observing how this will evolve in the coming years remains intriguing.
Among the 29 new airports Breeze added this year, several stand out, particularly busy hubs like Dallas/Fort Worth and Denver. However, the airline offers only one route from each of these locations, except for San Diego and Washington Dulles. As a result, it will be interesting to see how these routes perform.
Notably, Breeze’s new airport in Ogdensburg marks its first venture near the Canadian border. This expansion specifically targets Canadian travelers, with flights from Washington Dulles and Orlando. Additionally, the route from Orlando to Lancaster is vital since it provides the only scheduled jet service for the Pennsylvania airport.
Looking ahead to 2025, Breeze Airways plans to add Wilmington, North Carolina, to its network, with service starting on February 13. This expansion will include multiple routes flown twice weekly. Ultimately, as Breeze Airways continues to evolve, its growth story becomes increasingly compelling.
