London Heathrow Airport is gearing up for a busy November, despite the month typically being quieter before the December rush. This November, Heathrow expects 19,206 flights, ranking it as the 10th busiest airport globally and the busiest in Europe. Flight schedules vary greatly between routes, with some destinations seeing just a handful of flights while others experience heavy traffic.
Among the top five busiest routes, Munich leads with 420 flights scheduled. This route, covering just under 600 miles, connects Heathrow with Munich Airport, set to open its famous Christmas market soon. Lufthansa and British Airways dominate this route, with Lufthansa even using its regional subsidiary, Lufthansa CityLine, for some flights. Passengers can choose between various aircraft, including the A320 and A321neo from both carriers.
The route to Dublin ranks fourth with 478 flights, a distance of 279 miles. Although it’s a short journey, it sees significant air traffic with British Airways and Aer Lingus offering regular services. The aircraft used on this route include the A320 and A320neo, providing travelers with comfort on quick flights.
Amsterdam follows closely in third with 482 flights scheduled. Just slightly farther than Dublin, the 229-mile route also takes about an hour and a half. KLM and British Airways both operate this busy route, offering a mix of aircraft, including Boeing 737s and the A321neo.
Frankfurt’s connection with Heathrow is the second busiest, with 487 flights scheduled. This route covers 405 miles, and both British Airways and Lufthansa offer regular services. The airlines mostly use the A320neo and A321neo for these frequent flights.
Finally, the Heathrow to New York JFK route stands out with 604 flights scheduled. This route spans 3,443 miles and is serviced by multiple airlines, including British Airways, American Airlines, Delta, JetBlue, and Virgin Atlantic. Passengers can enjoy a wide range of aircraft, from the A350 to the Boeing 777.
Despite being quieter in November, Heathrow’s bustling schedule hints at a busy holiday season ahead. It’s clear that the airport remains a crucial hub for international air travel.
