China Southern Airlines has restarted its direct flights between Guangzhou and Perth, boosting tourism and business. This change strengthens Western Australia’s economic ties and global connectivity. The flights will increase exchanges between Western Australia and China.
The airline operates three flights weekly—on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays—using Boeing 787-9 planes. This addition provides over 780 new seats every week, expected to draw more visitors from China. Currently, China ranks as Western Australia’s fourth-largest tourism market. In 2024, 75,000 Chinese visitors contributed $328 million to the local economy.
The resumption follows a collaborative effort by Tourism WA and the State Government to grow ties with China Southern Airlines. As a leading carrier, China Southern Airlines plays a key role in improving regional access to international markets.
Officials expect the direct flights to boost both tourism and exports of Western Australia’s fresh produce to China. This route is vital for expanding the region’s economy and trade relations with international markets.
