Wizz Air, Europe’s leading low-cost carrier, has earned the “Best Airline for Carbon Reduction” title at the 2024 Carbon Awards. This award highlights the airline’s significant efforts to reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainability in aviation.

Wizz Air’s fleet is among the youngest in the industry. Its Airbus A321neo aircraft, which make up over 60% of the fleet, reduce fuel consumption by 20%. This technology helps Wizz Air achieve an impressive CO2 emissions rate of just 52 grams per seat, the lowest in the sector.
The airline plans to cut its carbon emissions intensity by 25% by 2030. Wizz Air also aims to power 10% of its flights with sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) by that year. The airline invests in SAF production and secures long-term supply agreements to meet these goals.
Wizz Air recently launched new SAF-powered routes, showing its proactive approach to meeting EU SAF mandates. The airline aims to raise passenger awareness about sustainable travel and the importance of supporting eco-friendly aviation.
