United Airlines temporarily closed its Polaris Lounge at Chicago O’Hare International Airport for expansion. This renovation will enhance the lounge with more premium spaces and amenities. Travelers can expect updated workspaces, restrooms, and private seating.
The project started in September 2024 and will increase the lounge’s size from 16,000 to 25,000 square feet. United Airlines plans to reopen the lounge by spring 2026, before the busy summer travel season. While the exact date is not set, the airline is preparing for a busy season ahead.
The lounge, located in Concourse C near Gate C18, adds to United’s presence at Chicago O’Hare. The airport also features five other United lounges, called United Clubs, in Terminals 1 and 2. These clubs offer extra options for eligible passengers during the Polaris Lounge’s closure.
United Airlines’ Polaris lounges serve long-haul international travelers, offering a more refined experience than standard lounges. Located at major hubs like Houston, Los Angeles, and Newark, these lounges focus on comfort and luxury. United also considers expanding the Polaris experience to Denver International Airport.
Only United Polaris business class passengers on international flights can access the Polaris Lounge. First and business class passengers on Star Alliance member airlines also enjoy these premium facilities. However, Polaris business class ticket holders cannot bring guests.
Polaris lounges provide sit-down dining, offering a fine dining experience beyond typical buffets. Travelers can use spa-like amenities, including showers and daybeds, for a refreshing break during long layovers. These lounges maintain a quiet atmosphere due to restricted access, making them a peaceful retreat in busy airports.
United Airlines enhances its lounge offerings to meet the needs of premium travelers, ensuring a luxurious experience.
