This collaboration builds on their previous agreement to connect passengers across both airlines’ networks. With this new expansion, both airlines offer more options for connecting flights. Passengers can now travel to Iceland via Southwest’s major US hubs like Baltimore, Nashville, and Denver. Meanwhile, Europeans can easily reach various US cities by connecting through Icelandair’s Reykjavik base. These added destinations strengthen the partnership and provide smoother travel experiences for customers.

The partnership is especially significant for Icelandair, as it extends the airline’s reach into new regions of the US. Icelandair had previously partnered with JetBlue and Alaska Airlines to cover the West Coast and East Coast, respectively. Southwest completes the network by providing connections across the middle and southern regions of the United States. This expansion helps Icelandair cater to more travelers seeking routes to Europe.

The first flight from Nashville to Reykjavik will take off in April 2025. Icelandair will operate seasonal flights from Nashville International Airport with a Boeing 737-800 MAX, offering passengers a comfortable journey. Similarly, Southwest will soon offer more routes from Nashville, including connections to popular destinations like Mexico and the Dominican Republic.

With these updates, passengers will enjoy even more convenient options for connecting through key airports, including Baltimore/Washington International.
