British Airways Strengthens Ties with Airlink to Boost Botswana Travel

British Airways expanded its partnership with Airlink in early 2025. The collaboration enhances connections between Southern Africa and Europe. Airlink operates flights from Johannesburg to key destinations in Botswana. These routes began in late January 2025, offering travelers more options.

The codeshare routes enable passengers to travel directly from London and other European cities to Botswana. They no longer need separate tickets. The routes include Johannesburg to Gaborone, Kasane, and Maun. These new connections offer greater flexibility. British Airways aims to increase accessibility to Botswana, known for its wildlife.

The partnership drives tourism in Botswana. The Okavango Delta and Chobe National Park attract international visitors. British Airways’ expanded routes will likely increase tourism. As Botswana grows as a business hub, the airline helps corporate travelers connect between Europe and Southern Africa.

Travelers from North America, Asia, and Europe benefit from the new routes. They can now easily reach Botswana’s safari destinations, such as Maun and Kasane.

The expanded connectivity will boost Botswana’s economy, especially in the tourism sector. It also strengthens British Airways’ position in Africa’s competitive aviation market. This expansion supports the growing demand for Southern African travel.

Looking ahead, experts predict more route expansions. British Airways may add additional destinations in Southern Africa, further benefiting the aviation and tourism sectors.
