WestJet Expands with New Halifax-Amsterdam Flights

WestJet is enhancing its European routes with a new direct flight from Halifax to Amsterdam. Starting May 29, 2025, the airline will operate up to six weekly flights on this route. This expansion comes as demand for transatlantic travel continues to rise.

Halifax Stanfield International Airport now connects travelers directly to five major European destinations through WestJet. The new route to Amsterdam joins existing flights to Dublin, Edinburgh, London-Gatwick, and Paris. Travelers can also find seasonal flights to Frankfurt, Zurich, and Reykjavik, making Halifax a growing hub for international travel.

With travel costs on the rise, budget-conscious passengers are seeking affordable European destinations. Many travelers prioritize lower expenses, and Amsterdam offers cost-effective accommodations and attractions. The new direct flight makes it easier for Canadian travelers to explore Europe without breaking the bank.

Nova Scotia’s tourism industry is also set to benefit from this expansion. As more travelers head overseas, the region is attracting domestic tourists looking for nearby getaways. The East Coast’s scenic landscapes and cultural experiences make it a top choice for those staying in Canada.

For the best fares and availability, travelers should book their summer flights early. With an increasing number of direct transatlantic routes, Halifax is becoming a key gateway for international travel. WestJet’s expansion reinforces the airport’s role in connecting Canada to major European destinations.
