Lion Air is enhancing its fleet’s efficiency through a strategic partnership with Sanad. The five-year agreement allows Sanad to maintain V2500 engines for Lion Air’s Airbus A320 fleet. Additionally, this deal extends support to Batik Air and Super Air Jet, ensuring consistent service quality. As a result, the partnership reinforces UAE-Indonesia aviation ties while elevating Abu Dhabi’s role as a global aviation hub.
Moreover, this collaboration aligns with broader economic objectives between the UAE and Indonesia. The agreement also supports a trade partnership aimed at strengthening aviation growth in Southeast Asia. Consequently, it highlights the increasing demand for high-quality maintenance solutions in the region’s expanding airline industry.
The V2500 engine, developed by International Aero Engines, has been a cornerstone of commercial aviation since 1989. Over time, this engine has proven its efficiency and durability, making it essential for many airlines worldwide. In fact, more than 2,600 aircraft rely on the V2500 engine, accumulating over 275 million flight hours. Therefore, Sanad’s expertise in maintaining these engines plays a crucial role in supporting Lion Air’s growing operations.
Furthermore, Sanad operates advanced MRO facilities in Abu Dhabi, making it a preferred partner for global airlines. Over the past five years, it has successfully serviced more than 250 V2500 engines. Notably, it remains the only independent full-service provider for these engines in the Middle East. Thus, this agreement strengthens Sanad’s position in the global aviation sector.
Additionally, Lion Air, one of Southeast Asia’s largest airlines, manages a fleet of over 310 aircraft. Meanwhile, its subsidiaries, Batik Air and Super Air Jet, operate more than 65 aircraft powered by V2500 engines. Thanks to this new partnership, Lion Air ensures greater reliability, safety, and efficiency for its entire fleet.
Ultimately, this agreement reinforces Abu Dhabi’s growing influence in global aviation. Not only does it enhance the UAE’s presence in the MRO sector, but it also supports economic diversification. At the same time, Lion Air benefits from industry-leading expertise, guaranteeing seamless operations for years to come.
