AEGEAN Airlines is set for a major expansion in 2025, increasing its seat capacity by 1.8 million to reach a total of 21.5 million. The airline has already experienced a strong start to the year, carrying 1.9 million passengers in January and February, marking a 9% increase from last year. This growth follows a record-breaking 2024, where AEGEAN Airlines transported 16.3 million travelers despite industry challenges.
With demand for international travel rising, AEGEAN Airlines is strengthening its global presence. The airline is launching direct routes from Greek islands like Mykonos, Santorini, and Rhodes to Istanbul. Additionally, new connections will link Athens to Erbil in Iraq and Baku in Azerbaijan. Travelers from Cyprus will also benefit from a direct route to Rome. These additions aim to enhance connectivity between Greece and key global markets.
AEGEAN Airlines is also boosting regional connections. The airline is expanding services to the Iberian Peninsula, the Balkans, Egypt, Italy, and Switzerland. Investments in flights to Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Morocco further solidify its international network. This strategic expansion helps AEGEAN Airlines compete in the aviation industry while meeting rising travel demand.
Domestically, the airline is improving connectivity within Greece. New direct routes will link Heraklion to Rhodes, Naxos, Corfu, and Kos. Thessaloniki will gain a direct flight to Syros, while Rhodes will now connect with Chania and Santorini. These additions support tourism growth and provide more options for travelers within Greece.
AEGEAN Airlines’ early success in 2025 highlights its commitment to expansion. With a focus on international and domestic growth, the airline is on track for another record-breaking year.
