Cathay Pacific is making strategic changes to its summer flight schedule, responding to shifting travel demands. To optimize operations, the airline is expanding flights to Spain and Italy while reducing services to select North American and European destinations. These adjustments aim to improve efficiency and meet seasonal passenger trends.
For North America, the summer schedule runs from March to October, bringing several key modifications. Flights between Hong Kong and Boston will now vary between five and seven per week, ensuring flexibility. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles route will operate between 14 and 20 weekly flights, reaching peak capacity in June and July. Additionally, flights to New York’s JFK will fluctuate between 15 and 20 per week, depending on demand. Similarly, San Francisco will see adjustments, with flights shifting between 15 and 21 per week. Routes to Toronto and Vancouver will also experience changes to match passenger traffic.
In Europe, Cathay Pacific is fine-tuning its network to enhance efficiency. While flights to Amsterdam, London, and Manchester will see temporary reductions, the airline is increasing service to Barcelona and Milan. This expansion strengthens Cathay Pacific’s presence in Southern Europe. Furthermore, Paris and Zurich will experience minor schedule changes for a limited period. Despite these adjustments, the airline will continue serving 12 European cities, including its latest destination, Rome.
The airline started 2025 with impressive growth. In January, it reported a 30.9% rise in available seat kilometers, contributing to a 37% surge in passenger numbers. Although demand may soften in the coming months, Cathay Pacific remains focused on long-term expansion. By refining its flight schedules, the airline ensures smoother travel connections while reinforcing Hong Kong’s status as a global aviation hub.
