Air Astana is enforcing stricter lithium battery transport rules from March 13, 2025, to improve flight safety. These new regulations aim to minimize fire risks and ensure passengers carry batteries safely during flights. Lithium batteries and battery-powered devices have raised safety concerns, prompting the airline to revise its policy.

Under the updated rules, passengers must carry spare batteries, power banks, and electronic smoking devices in their hand luggage. If a passenger checks in their carry-on bag, they must remove all spare batteries first. This policy helps prevent potential hazards and ensures accessibility in emergencies.

Air Astana now limits lithium battery capacity to a maximum of 100Wh. If a battery has between 100Wh and 160Wh, the passenger needs prior airline approval. Each traveler can only carry two of these batteries. The airline bans any battery exceeding 160Wh. Every battery must display its capacity, and unmarked batteries or uncertified ones will not be allowed.

For safety reasons, passengers must place lithium batteries and electronic smoking devices in overhead compartments. Charging devices or using power banks during the flight is strictly prohibited. These regulations help prevent overheating and potential fire incidents on board.

Air Astana continues to strengthen its safety measures to protect passengers and crew. By implementing these changes, the airline ensures compliance with the highest safety standards in air travel. These new policies highlight the airline’s commitment to safer flights and responsible lithium battery transport.
