Changi Airport has emerged as the biggest winner at the Routes Asia 2025 Awards, solidifying its status as a top aviation hub. Not only did it secure the Overall Winner title, but it also led the Over 20 Million Passengers category. This recognition highlights its remarkable growth, strategic expansions, and strong collaborations with airline partners.
The awards ceremony, held in Perth, celebrated the most outstanding airports and destinations across Asia-Pacific. Moreover, several winners stood out for their contributions to aviation growth. Cairns Airport, Adelaide Airport, the Philippine Department of Tourism, and Cebu Pacific all earned recognition for their achievements in enhancing connectivity and passenger experience.
Changi Airport’s exceptional performance in 2024 played a key role in this victory. In fact, it handled 67.7 million passengers, marking a 15% rise from the previous year. Additionally, airfreight operations also saw similar growth. The airport welcomed ten new airlines, including Air Canada and Air Japan, while adding 20 fresh routes. As a result, travelers now have access to destinations such as Brussels, London Gatwick, and Vancouver.
Meanwhile, other winners also made significant strides. Cairns Airport expanded international routes, further strengthening its role in Australia’s aviation network. At the same time, Adelaide Airport set a new passenger record, surpassing pre-pandemic levels with over 8.5 million travelers. Similarly, the Philippine Department of Tourism boosted air connectivity, supporting new routes and driving tourism growth. On top of that, Cebu Pacific, with its record-breaking expansion, introduced 31 new routes and made a historic aircraft purchase.
The awards were determined through careful evaluation by airline industry experts. Consequently, this recognition reflects the region’s ongoing commitment to enhancing air travel. As competition among aviation hubs intensifies, Changi Airport and other winners continue pushing boundaries, ensuring greater connectivity and improved travel experiences.
