Travelers at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport face severe delays and cancellations due to a major strike. The disruption has thrown airline schedules into disarray, leaving passengers frustrated. Finnair, Norwegian, Iberia, and Lufthansa struggle to manage flights amid ongoing worker protests.

The strike affects ground handling and customer service teams, causing flight operations to slow down. Finnair must assist stranded passengers under European regulations. These rules require airlines to provide rebooking, meals, and hotel stays during long delays.

Other airlines at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport also experience disruptions. Freedom Airlines, DAT, and Lufthansa Cargo have canceled or delayed flights. Today, at least 15 flights were canceled, and 64 faced delays. If the strike continues, cancellations will increase.

Passengers must know their rights under EC 261/2004. Airlines must rebook or refund canceled flights. Travelers can also claim compensation if an airline caused the delay. Finnair’s ongoing pilot dispute has worsened the situation.

The strike has triggered legal trouble for Finnair. Finland’s Consumer Ombudsman has sued the airline for rejecting compensation claims. A court ruling could force Finnair to pay thousands of passengers.
