Korean Air leads the way in revolutionizing air travel with its new Urban Air Mobility (UAM) and Aviation Safety Research and Development Centre. Located in Bucheon, South Korea, this project will shape the future of aviation. By 2030, the airline will lead in innovation, sustainability, and safety.
The new center will span 65,800 square meters. Over 1,000 experts will work there. With a KRW 1.2 trillion investment, the center will play a key role in advancing UAM technologies. It will develop electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, autonomous flight systems, and AI technologies. These technologies will improve air travel safety and efficiency.
Korean Air’s investment in this project shows its commitment to staying ahead in aviation. The airline believes UAM can make urban air travel efficient, safe, and eco-friendly. The center will house research units, pilot training facilities, and a safety experience center. It will enhance safety and flight communication systems.
The center will open in 2030, after breaking ground in 2027. It will transform Korean Air’s operations. It will strengthen South Korea’s position in the global aviation sector.
