Korean Air demonstrates a strong commitment to social and environmental causes through projects in Nepal and Mongolia. In May 2025, the airline engaged employees and their families to create lasting change beyond aviation. By doing so, Korean Air improves lives and protects nature in communities that need support most.
In Nepal’s Chitwan region, the airline’s volunteers focused on improving a children’s daycare center. They installed drainage systems to ensure access to safe drinking water. Additionally, the team repaired playground equipment and upgraded worn facilities. These efforts create a healthier, safer environment for local children. Moreover, volunteers supplied medical kits that address common health issues in the hot, humid climate. As a result, many families benefit from better health and care. Korean Air’s volunteer groups regularly support vulnerable communities both domestically and abroad, reinforcing their ongoing dedication.
Meanwhile, in Mongolia, Korean Air continued its long-standing forest restoration program near Ulaanbaatar. Over two weeks, employees from Korean Air and Asiana Airlines planted saplings and pruned trees to encourage growth. This work protects the environment and reduces dust pollution caused by nearby coal mines. Today, the “Korean Air Forest” covers 44 hectares and hosts over 125,000 trees. Therefore, it has transformed a barren area into a vibrant ecosystem.
Furthermore, the airline built a new playground within the forest to mark Mongolia’s Children’s Day. Volunteers improved safety features and prepared the space for local children’s enjoyment. Besides that, they visited schools to teach aviation basics and language skills, inspiring youth and promoting education.
Overall, Korean Air shows how airlines can create value beyond transportation. Through these projects, the company connects cultures, nurtures communities, and safeguards nature. As corporate responsibility gains importance, Korean Air sets a high standard by leading with purpose and impact.
