Air Transat Unveils Bold Toronto-Istanbul Direct Route

Air Transat is shaking up the long-haul travel scene with its direct Toronto to Istanbul flight. Launching on December 6, 2025, this new service promises faster access to one of the world’s most historic cities. The 5,077-mile journey will be Air Transat’s longest nonstop route to date, reinforcing the airline’s focus on global expansion.

Through a powerful partnership with Turkish Airlines, Air Transat now connects Canadian travelers to over 300 cities across Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. This collaboration not only shortens travel times but also gives passengers immediate access to Turkish Airlines’ massive global network. Canadian travelers can now avoid long layovers and head directly to Istanbul’s modern airport hub.

Demand for this direct connection is strong. Nearly 330,000 people traveled between Canada and Turkey last year, yet less than half flew nonstop. Air Transat has seized the opportunity to meet this demand by launching a more convenient and efficient travel solution for both leisure and diaspora passengers.

The move is also strategic on a national level. Air Transat joined hands with Porter Airlines to bring in travelers from key Canadian cities such as Montreal, Vancouver, and Ottawa. This added reach boosts passenger access from across Canada to the new Istanbul route via Toronto’s hub.

Another exciting benefit is visa-free travel. Since 2024, Canadian passport holders no longer need a visa to enter Turkey. This policy removes barriers and makes the new Air Transat route even more attractive. It invites more Canadians to explore Turkish culture, cuisine, and heritage.

This launch marks just the beginning for Air Transat. The airline is clearly targeting the long-haul travel market with bold, direct routes. With competitive pricing and powerful partnerships, Air Transat is becoming a key player in international air travel.
