Air Transat is expanding its global reach with a record-breaking route to Rio de Janeiro from Toronto and Montreal. This exciting launch marks the airline’s first entry into Brazil, thereby creating a direct link to South America’s most iconic city. The airline will start flights in February 2025, and it will use its comfortable and reliable Airbus A330 aircraft. Notably, the Toronto–Rio route spans 5,124 miles, while Montreal–Rio covers 5,075 miles.
Moreover, flights will operate weekly from each city, departing every Wednesday and Saturday. This move further strengthens Air Transat’s ambitious winter schedule, which also includes new routes to Georgetown and Valencia. By adding Brazil to its network, the airline targets the growing demand for leisure travel between Canada and South America.
Furthermore, the Toronto flight will take about 10 hours and 15 minutes. In contrast, Montreal’s service will take 10 hours and 20 minutes due to routing differences. Consequently, passengers will enjoy direct access to Rio’s beaches, carnival, and vibrant cultural attractions. The Airbus A330 fleet, therefore, offers modern amenities for a comfortable long-haul experience.
Additionally, this expansion increases Air Transat’s operational capacity by six percent compared to last year.
