Ryanair will shift fully to digital boarding passes from November 12, 2025. The airline delayed this change twice but finally confirmed the date to avoid heavy midterm travel periods. Ryanair, famous for affordable flights across Europe, will no longer provide printed passes. Travelers must now check in online and use the Ryanair app to board flights.
This move strengthens Ryanair’s digital strategy while reducing costs and environmental waste. Digital passes eliminate paper, cut queues, and improve operational speed. The app will hold boarding passes, live flight updates, and disruption alerts. It will also allow passengers to order food and drinks directly to their seats.
Most passengers already rely on digital boarding passes, so the transition will be smooth. However, the airline admits some travelers may face minor issues during the switch. To handle these cases, Ryanair will provide paper passes free of charge if a phone is lost or out of power. Travelers must check in online before arriving at the airport to access this backup option.
There are exceptions for a few destinations. Morocco still requires printed boarding passes, and Albania will only switch to digital in March 2026. Until then, passengers flying to these places must plan accordingly and carry paper passes.
