Spirit Airlines has secured $475 million to stabilize operations during its Chapter 11 restructuring. The airline filed for bankruptcy protection in August for the second time in less than a year. The agreement provides $200 million immediately after court approval. This gives Spirit Airlines crucial breathing space to keep planes in the air and creditors paid. Alongside financing, Spirit Airlines struck a settlement with AerCap Holdings. The airline will cut 27 aircraft leases while AerCap pays $150 million in return. The airline also rejected 12 airport leases and 19 ground handling agreements. This decision allows Spirit Airlines to concentrate on profitable routes and reduce unnecessary expenses.
