AirAsia is strengthening Thailand’s regional air network by launching a direct route between Chiang Mai and Udon Thani. The new service will start on December 1, 2025, with four weekly flights running through March 2026. The airline aims to make travel across Thailand’s northern and northeastern regions faster and easier for both tourists and business travelers. This move also supports broader cross-border access to Laos, as Udon Thani connects conveniently to Vientiane.
This route enhances Thailand’s domestic connectivity and reinforces AirAsia’s commitment to regional tourism. Chiang Mai attracts visitors with its rich culture, ancient temples, and scenic mountains. Meanwhile, Udon Thani is becoming a gateway for commerce and leisure, offering access to the vibrant northeastern region. By linking these two growing hubs, AirAsia boosts opportunities for cultural exploration and business collaboration across the country.
The new connection also improves Chiang Mai’s role as a vital aviation hub. With this addition, the city now connects to nine domestic destinations, including Bangkok, Krabi, Phuket, and Hat Yai. Passengers can easily combine domestic and international journeys through Chiang Mai’s expanding network. This growing connectivity allows travelers to design flexible itineraries, explore new regions, and experience diverse Thai cultures within a single trip.
AirAsia continues to deliver reliable service with strong on-time performance and affordable fares. Its consistent excellence keeps travelers choosing AirAsia for convenient and accessible flights. The Chiang Mai–Udon Thani route ensures dependable service with multiple weekly options and smooth onward connections.
This expansion strengthens Thailand’s domestic tourism and supports regional economic development. It also encourages travelers to explore both northern and northeastern Thailand while promoting sustainable tourism and local growth. AirAsia’s new route highlights its role as a leader in domestic aviation and a driving force behind Thailand’s regional travel evolution.
