AirAsia X (AAX) is set to expand into Europe with exciting plans to launch long-haul flights from Asia starting in 2026. This move will provide budget-friendly travel options between Asia and Europe. Southeast and Central Asia travelers will benefit from these new affordable connections.
The airline’s first step involves using Istanbul, Turkey, as a hub. AAX started flying to Istanbul in November 2025 with four weekly flights from Kuala Lumpur. Istanbul will serve as a central stop for connections between Asia and Europe, offering a more affordable way to travel.
AirAsia X has its sights set on key European cities, including London, Edinburgh, and Paris. The airline plans to offer low-cost flights to these destinations. Istanbul will also allow for a cost-effective stopover for travelers.
Beyond Europe, AirAsia X plans to expand into Central Asia and the Gulf. The airline is considering hubs in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and Tashkent, Uzbekistan. AAX is also exploring Bahrain as a stopover location for flights from Asia to Europe.
To support this expansion, AirAsia X will receive new A321LR jets in 2026. These long-range planes will make it easier for the airline to serve secondary European cities. With these additions, AAX can offer affordable routes for travelers.
For tourists from Asia, this expansion opens more affordable options to visit Europe. The airline’s move will also boost tourism in Istanbul and Central Asia. AirAsia X is reshaping international travel by making long-haul journeys more accessible and cost-effective.
