British Airways has expanded its Avios-Only program with new flights from London City to Spain and France. As a result, travelers can now redeem points exclusively for direct services to Madrid and Toulon. Additionally, this move strengthens loyalty benefits and opens premium summer travel options for frequent flyers.
The new services mark the 50th Avios-only flight since the program launched in 2023. Therefore, by dedicating entire aircraft to points redemption, British Airways ensures loyalty members enjoy guaranteed seats during peak summer demand. Meanwhile, the Madrid route aligns with the late May bank holiday, and Toulon flights target early summer vacations along the French Riviera.
Travelers using Avios points receive predictable pricing, full 23 kg checked baggage, and access to popular leisure destinations without the usual competition for reward seats. Moreover, return flights to Spain start from £2 plus 28,000 Avios in Euro Traveller or £30 plus 49,000 Avios in Club Europe. Similarly, Toulon fares begin at £2 plus 21,500 Avios or £30 plus 36,000 Avios. These routes therefore connect United Kingdom travelers to vibrant city life in Madrid and scenic coastal escapes in southern France.
British Airways has gradually extended the Avios-Only program across Europe, Africa, the Caribbean, and the Middle East. In addition, previous routes include Cape Town, Barbados, Málaga, Marrakesh, and Sharm El Sheikh. This expansion reinforces the airline’s commitment to combining aspirational destinations with loyalty-focused travel. Furthermore, both BA Cityflyer and BA Euroflyer operations contribute to the program, emphasizing engagement with frequent flyers and enhancing seasonal capacity.
The Avios-Only approach represents a strategic shift in loyalty programs. By offering full planes for point redemptions, British Airways ensures travelers receive clarity and convenience while planning summer vacations. Also, the program complements The British Airways Club, allowing members to earn and redeem Avios through partner airlines, retailers, and credit cards.
Finally, the addition of Madrid and Toulon highlights the airline’s focus on high-demand European leisure markets. Consequently, British Airways continues to innovate loyalty offerings while strengthening connections across the United Kingdom and Europe.
