On September 25, 2024, Emirates celebrated a major milestone with the maiden flight of its first A350-900. After several delays, this new aircraft finally took to the skies, highlighting the airline’s commitment to excellence.
The maiden flight occurred under the callsign F-WZGA and will soon be registered as A6-EXA once it joins the Emirates fleet. Currently, the aircraft remains at Toulouse-Blagnac Airport, undergoing critical ground and flight tests. These tests include rejected take-off assessments and taxiing evaluations to ensure safety.
During the test flight over Metropolitan France, the A350-900 completed a short cruise above the Atlantic Ocean. The total flight lasted 3 hours and 55 minutes, reaching a maximum altitude of 43,000 feet. This performance showcases the aircraft’s advanced technology.
This aircraft is the first of 65 A350-900s ordered by Emirates. In 2019, the Dubai-based airline ordered 50 units and added 15 more at the Dubai Airshow in 2023. Emirates plans to receive ten A350s by March 2025, significantly enhancing its fleet.
The Emirates A350 will feature a three-class configuration with a total capacity of 312 passengers. This includes 32 Business Class seats, 21 Premium Economy seats, and 259 Economy Class seats. Such a setup aims to provide travelers with enhanced comfort.
Moreover, Emirates announced its inaugural destinations for the A350. Initially, flights will connect cities in the Middle East and West Asia, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Muscat, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Colombo. Additionally, the airline will serve European destinations like Lyon, Bologna, and Edinburgh. Notably, Edinburgh will be the first European city to welcome the A350, with its maiden commercial flight set for November 4, 2024.
Ultimately, the launch of the Emirates A350 marks an exciting new chapter for the airline. With not only improved operating efficiency but also a strong focus on passenger comfort, Emirates is ready to redefine air travel across its expanding network.
