American Airlines Extends Flight Ban to Israel as Conflict Continues

American Airlines has announced an extension of its flight suspension to and from Tel Aviv until March 29, 2025, due to the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, which has been ongoing for ten months. The airline\’s travel advisory has also been extended.

Passengers affected by the suspension are allowed to rebook their flights without fees or opt for a refund. The change fee waiver applies to:

  • Flights operated by American Airlines
  • Any fare class, including Basic Economy
  • Tickets purchased by February 11, 2024
  • Travel dates from October 7, 2023, to March 29, 2025
  • Rebooking must be completed between October 26, 2024, and April 29, 2025
  • No changes to the origin or destination city are permitted
  • Passengers must be rebooked in the same cabin or pay any fare difference
  • Cancellations can be made for a refund

Customers have until March 29, 2025, to make changes, with travel required to be completed within one year of the original ticket issue date. Fare differences may apply.

American Airlines suspended flights to and from Tel Aviv in October 2023 due to the conflict. Delta Airlines and United Airlines also halted their services at the conflict\’s onset but have since resumed operations.

Recent incidents include Israeli airstrikes that resulted in twelve casualties in Gaza, including four individuals at a hospital complex. Additionally, a stabbing attack in a Tel Aviv suburb led to two men being injured and the deaths of a woman in her seventies and an eighty-year-old man, as reported by Israel\’s Magen David Adom rescue service.
