BBN Airlines Indonesia Gains Singapore Permit—What This Means for Travelers

BBN Airlines Indonesia, a member of the global aviation group Avia Solutions Group (ASG), has recently obtained a foreign operator permit (FOP) from the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS). This new permit marks the second international license awarded to the ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, Crew) specialist airline in 2024. The approval will allow BBN Airlines Indonesia to enter new Asian markets and enhance its existing portfolio of customer airlines in the region.

Significance of the New Permit for BBN Airlines Indonesia

Receiving this permit is a significant milestone for BBN Airlines Indonesia, which was founded in August 2022 in Jakarta. The airline has shown steady growth, operating a fleet of six Boeing 737 aircraft. This includes three Boeing 737-800 passenger planes, which feature an all-economy layout with up to 189 seats. Additionally, the fleet consists of two Boeing 737-800 freighters and a Boeing 737-400 freighter, added in November 2023.

Expanding Horizons with New Licensing

The FOP from Singapore enhances the airline’s credibility and expands its capabilities. This step follows the airline’s recent acquisition of a Foreign Air Transport Air Operators Certificate (FATAOC) from Australia’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) in August 2024. This certificate allows BBN Airlines Indonesia to operate flights to and from Australia, marking a significant expansion beyond Indonesia.

Future Growth and Strategic Expansion

BBN Airlines Indonesia aims to grow its fleet to 40 aircraft by 2027, reflecting its ongoing expansion efforts. This growth aligns with ASG’s broader strategy, which includes several other airlines such as SmartLynx Airlines, Avion Express, Ascend Airways, KlasJet, AirExplore, Skytrans, and Magma Aviation. ASG holds nine Air Operator’s Certificates (AOCs) across Europe, Indonesia, Thailand, and Australia, operating a fleet of 214 aircraft.
