Aer Lingus has joined forces with the Pittsburgh Steelers as their official airline, further strengthening its transatlantic presence. Since the Steelers will play in Dublin’s Croke Park, this partnership arrives at the perfect time. As a result, Aer Lingus gains greater visibility in the U.S. while promoting seamless travel between Pittsburgh and Dublin.
The airline aims to capitalize on the rising demand for transatlantic flights. Not only does it already operate direct flights from Pittsburgh International Airport to Dublin, but it also continues expanding. This collaboration helps Aer Lingus attract more American travelers while deepening Irish-American ties. Because the Steelers have strong Irish heritage, this partnership is more than just a sponsorship.
Aer Lingus plans to expand its transatlantic routes, offering even more options for U.S. travelers. By mid-2025, the airline will serve 24 routes from Dublin, Shannon, and Manchester. In addition, major U.S. cities like New York, Boston, Chicago, and Miami will see increased connectivity. To ensure efficiency, Aer Lingus will deploy a fleet of Airbus widebody and narrowbody aircraft.
This four-year agreement strategically positions Aer Lingus at the heart of the Steelers’ expansion in Ireland. Since the airline will serve as the presenting partner of Steelers Ireland 2025, its brand visibility will soar. Furthermore, it will play a crucial role in promoting the team’s Ireland initiative. By doing so, Aer Lingus strengthens its brand while tapping into the loyal Steelers fan base.
Beyond travel, Aer Lingus will co-present the Steelers’ Ireland Youth Football Development Program. Because this initiative promotes American football in Ireland, it aligns perfectly with the Steelers’ deep Irish roots. The team’s founder, Art Rooney, had Irish ancestry, which helped shape the franchise’s identity. Given their six Super Bowl titles, the Steelers remain one of the NFL’s most iconic teams.
This partnership supports Aer Lingus’ broader U.S. expansion strategy. Not only has the airline launched flights to Denver, but it has also reinstated service to Minneapolis. Looking ahead, it will introduce routes to Indianapolis and Nashville in 2025. By continuously strengthening U.S. connections, Aer Lingus cements its position as a leading transatlantic carrier.
