Air Canada Flight Rocked by Severe Turbulence—Here’s What Went Down!

Air Canada Flight AC19 from Vancouver to Singapore encountered severe turbulence two hours into its journey on October 11, 2024. The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner experienced intense bumps over the North Pacific, throwing passengers, food, and drinks around the cabin. Passengers described the experience as a rollercoaster, with moments of weightlessness.

Despite the chaos, no injuries occurred, and the flight continued without the need for an emergency landing. The cabin crew promptly responded, cleaning up while maintaining control of the situation. Flight AC19, although delayed, arrived safely in Singapore.

The aircraft, known for its flexible wings designed to withstand turbulence, faced extreme conditions that kept passengers seated for several hours. Understanding turbulence, particularly Clear Air Turbulence (CAT), helps explain such incidents. CAT happens suddenly in cloudless skies, often causing violent aircraft movements.

Other recent turbulence incidents have similarly caused disruptions and injuries, including flights from Scoot, Turkish Airlines, and United Airlines. While turbulence is common, passengers must always keep their seatbelts fastened to avoid injury.
