Air India is making premium travel more accessible by expanding its Premium Economy class. Over the past three years, premium seat sales have doubled, showing a clear demand for better travel experiences. To meet this rising interest, Air India now offers Premium Economy fares starting at just INR 599 more than standard Economy on domestic routes. As a result, travelers can enjoy extra comfort without spending much more.
Moreover, the airline is adding more routes to its Premium Economy network. Currently, passengers can book these upgraded seats on 39 domestic routes, covering major metro cities. With over 50,000 weekly seats available, Air India ensures that more travelers experience enhanced in-flight luxury. For instance, popular routes like Delhi-Mumbai, Delhi-Bengaluru, and Mumbai-Hyderabad now offer nearly 34,000 seats in this category.
In addition to route expansion, Air India is upgrading 27 Airbus A320 aircraft to a three-class layout. Consequently, this move will increase Premium Economy capacity by 30%, pushing the total to over 65,000 seats each week. These modernized planes will feature new seating arrangements across all classes, giving passengers a better flying experience. Furthermore, the expansion includes select short-haul international routes, allowing even more travelers to enjoy premium comfort.
Not only does Air India’s Premium Economy provide extra space, but it also offers exclusive services. For example, passengers benefit from priority check-in, boarding, and baggage handling, making their journey smoother. The spacious seats, featuring a 32-inch pitch and superior recline, ensure greater relaxation. Additionally, flyers enjoy complimentary meal service on premium chinaware, adding a refined touch to their travel.
To make the experience even better, Air India provides wireless inflight streaming with over 1,000 hours of content. Thus, travelers can use their personal devices to access movies, TV shows, and more. With ongoing upgrades, Air India is reshaping domestic air travel, making premium experiences more affordable for everyone.
