Air India is making bold moves to expand its international network and modernize its fleet. The airline is adding more flights to key destinations, including London, Zurich, Vienna, Seoul, Hong Kong, Nairobi, and Melbourne. These changes will enhance connectivity and provide travelers with better options.
Starting March 30, 2025, Air India will introduce additional flights on several routes. The airline will increase flights from Delhi to London Heathrow, Zurich, and Vienna. Services between Amritsar and London Gatwick, as well as Ahmedabad and London Gatwick, will also see an upgrade. This expansion ensures that passengers have more flexibility when flying to Europe and the UK.
Air India is also strengthening its presence in East Asia. The airline will increase flights between Delhi and Seoul while upgrading the aircraft on the Delhi-Hong Kong route to the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. These improvements aim to provide passengers with a more comfortable and modern travel experience.
Africa will also benefit from this expansion. Air India will add more flights between Delhi and Nairobi, improving travel options for business and leisure travelers. The airline is committed to enhancing its global footprint by offering more routes and upgraded services.
To complement its route expansion, Air India is investing heavily in fleet modernization. The airline will complete its narrowbody aircraft upgrades by mid-2025. It will also begin retrofitting its Boeing 787s in April 2025, introducing new seats and advanced entertainment systems. By October 2025, the refurbished aircraft will gradually enter service. The Boeing 777 upgrades, originally scheduled for 2025, will now begin in early 2026. In the meantime, Air India will implement temporary interior enhancements to improve passenger comfort.
However, these upgrades come with some temporary adjustments. The airline will suspend the Mumbai-Melbourne route from March 30 to September 13, 2025. The Kochi-London Gatwick service will also pause indefinitely. Despite these suspensions, Air India will maintain strong connectivity to London Gatwick with flights from Amritsar, Ahmedabad, and Goa.
Air India’s latest expansion and fleet upgrades mark a new era for the airline. By enhancing its global network and modernizing its aircraft, the airline is set to offer a superior travel experience. Passengers can expect better connectivity, upgraded cabins, and a smoother journey on Air India’s expanding routes.
