Air India Express is set to launch direct flights between Kolkata and Hindon Airport on March 1. This expansion strengthens regional connectivity and provides an alternative to Delhi’s crowded Indira Gandhi International Airport. Since Hindon Airport has limited commercial operations, this move creates new opportunities for travelers. Additionally, it marks a major milestone as Air India Express becomes the first airline to operate jet aircraft from this location.
Located in Ghaziabad, Hindon Airport offers greater convenience for passengers from eastern Delhi, Noida, and parts of western Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. More importantly, travelers from cities like Meerut, Hapur, Saharanpur, and Dehradun can now access flights more easily. As a result, this new route is expected to reduce travel time and improve connectivity for a large number of passengers.
Air India Express will operate daily flights from Kolkata, while return flights from Hindon will run six days a week, excluding Saturdays. Flights will depart from Kolkata at 7:10 AM and land at Hindon by 9:30 AM. Meanwhile, the return flight will leave Hindon at 5:20 PM and arrive in Kolkata by 7:40 PM. These schedules accommodate both business and leisure travelers, ensuring flexibility and ease of travel.
Initially planned for August 2024, the route launch was postponed but is now set to begin in March. Furthermore, this expansion aligns with Air India Express’s broader strategy to enhance domestic connectivity. The airline also plans to introduce flights from Hindon to Bengaluru and Goa. Additionally, there is a possibility of international flights from Kolkata to Kathmandu and Dhaka in the future.
Hindon Airport plays a crucial role in regional aviation, handling both civilian and VIP flights. With Air India Express leading this transformation, the airport’s commercial operations are entering a new phase. Ultimately, this development will improve travel accessibility and boost connectivity across multiple states.
