Air India is raising the bar for premium air travel by expanding its presence at key global airports. As competition grows in the long-haul market, the airline is focusing on both comfort and connectivity. Therefore, it has launched a multi-country lounge upgrade strategy backed by the Tata Group.
At San Francisco International Airport, Air India is building a new premium lounge. This new space, located in the international terminal, supports its increasing West Coast flight operations. Additionally, more flights from Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru have pushed demand for better ground services. As a result, the SFO lounge will offer passengers a smoother and more refined pre-departure experience.
Meanwhile, the airline is renovating its lounges in Delhi and New York’s JFK Airport. These two major hubs are central to its global network. In Delhi, the lounge is closed for a full redesign and will reopen in 2025 with elevated amenities. Moreover, JFK’s lounge will also be refreshed to meet modern global standards. Both lounges aim to match or exceed offerings from top-tier competitors.
Furthermore, Air India is preparing to expand in Europe. It is planning a new lounge at London Heathrow, potentially in Terminal 2B. Given the heavy traffic between India and the UK, this addition will help the airline serve business and leisure passengers more effectively.
In addition to lounges, the airline is also modernizing its fleet and increasing its route coverage. Consequently, passengers will benefit from a more consistent and comfortable journey.
