Air Mauritius announced significant reductions in its winter 2025/26 schedule to Africa, Europe, and Asia. The airline adjusted services to Madagascar, Switzerland, Malaysia, the UK, India, and France. Air Mauritius said the move helps it align with seasonal demand while improving cost control. The carrier emphasized that the step strengthens its long-term network and ensures efficiency across its operations.
Air Mauritius, which struggled in past years, reported its strongest performance in nearly a decade. It achieved a profit of €4.9 million in the first quarter of 2025. Passenger revenue grew steadily to €115.4 million. Moreover, passenger traffic increased slightly to 403,127 travelers, which helped lift the load factor. The result marked a clear turnaround for the airline, which once aimed only to break even.
The carrier continues its search for a long-term partner. While initial hopes of Qatar Airways joining did not materialize, the airline remains committed to finding a strategic investor. Air Mauritius plans to sell up to 49% of its stake while the government maintains majority ownership. Officials believe this plan will support the airline’s financial stability and global reach.
Seasonal changes will reshape several routes. Flights to Geneva, Kuala Lumpur, London, Mumbai, Paris, and Antananarivo will decrease during low-demand months. However, Air Mauritius will increase its flights to Cape Town over the holiday period. The adjustments aim to balance supply with demand while preserving profitability. Travelers should book early, as available seats may shrink due to these changes.
Air Mauritius has shown resilience by adapting quickly to shifting travel patterns. Its focus on efficiency signals confidence in maintaining profitability beyond 2025. The airline continues to strengthen its brand by securing strong performance while implementing bold schedule changes. These steps suggest that Air Mauritius will emerge leaner, stronger, and more competitive in global aviation.
