Air New Zealand Awards $10,000 Grants to Inspire Safer Communities

Air New Zealand is empowering the next generation of innovators through its Schools for Safety grants program. This initiative celebrates the creativity of students across Aotearoa, offering $10,000 grants to five schools for their outstanding contributions to safety education. As a result, the program encourages Kiwi tamariki to make their communities safer while pursuing their dreams.

The nationwide program attracted over 40 entries from schools around the country, showcasing a range of imaginative safety projects. Notably, each winner demonstrated a unique approach to safety that resonated with both students and the wider community. Schools like Rotokawa, Clyde, Rotorua Primary, Chertsey, and Tikorangi stood out for their exceptional creativity in presenting vital safety messages.

Furthermore, Air New Zealand’s initiative highlights the importance of integrating culture, language, and hands-on experiences into safety education. For example, from safety-themed adventure missions to engaging videos, the winning entries brought essential messages to life. These schools also incorporated real-world scenarios, such as rural safety with animals and the use of te reo Māori, ensuring their safety lessons were relatable and memorable.

Judging these creative entries was no easy task, given the high level of innovation displayed by all participants. In fact, Air New Zealand sees these efforts as crucial in nurturing a culture of safety among Kiwi youth. The winners now have the opportunity to use their grants to further develop their safety programs and inspire future generations to think creatively about safety solutions.

Through programs like this, Air New Zealand continues to make a lasting impact on New Zealand’s communities. This initiative not only supports youth in their educational efforts but also reinforces the company’s commitment to safety and innovation. As a result, the program proves that young minds are capable of driving change and making their environments safer for everyone.
