Air New Zealand is struggling with significant operational challenges that have left many passengers frustrated. Between July and October, the airline saw a consistent decline in its on-time performance. Specifically, Air New Zealand’s departure rate within 15 minutes of the scheduled time ranged from just 54 to 61 percent. In October, Air New Zealand’s cancellation rate soared to 5 percent, more than double the industry average. This increase can largely be attributed to ongoing engine availability issues. These delays and cancellations significantly impact passengers’ schedules, resulting in missed connections, longer wait times, and additional travel costs.
