Air Transat’s Non-Stop Winter Route to Georgetown: A New Era of Travel

Air Transat expands its network by launching direct flights from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) to Georgetown, Guyana. This non-stop route strengthens connections between Canada and Guyana, benefiting both nations. The service will start on December 16, 2025, and will operate twice a week every Tuesday and Friday. It will continue through April 24, 2026, catering to both families and leisure travelers during the busy winter season.

The introduction of this new route meets the growing demand for direct travel to Guyana. Over the last decade, Guyana has become a popular destination for Canadians. This is due to its cultural ties with Canada, as well as expanding opportunities in the tourism and oil sectors. Air Transat’s decision to launch the service addresses a market that lacked direct flight options. This expansion is also a result of strong cooperation between Canadian and Guyanese authorities, though it still awaits final approval.

Air Transat will deploy the fuel-efficient Airbus plane for this route, which is perfectly suited for long-haul flights. The aircraft offers ergonomic seating and advanced in-flight entertainment, ensuring a comfortable experience for passengers. Furthermore, the Club Class cabin will provide premium services, attracting business travelers and those seeking extra comfort during their journey.

This new route brings major benefits to the Guyanese diaspora, especially in Toronto. Until now, travelers had to rely on complicated layovers, which made their trips longer and more difficult. However, by offering direct flights, Air Transat now simplifies travel, reducing both travel time and stress for thousands of passengers.

Guyana’s tourism sector is also growing, and the new service will likely encourage more Canadians to visit. As a result, Air Transat’s flights will help attract travelers interested in Guyana’s unspoiled rainforests and expanding urban centers. In addition, tickets for the route will soon be available for purchase, with early booking discounts likely to boost demand.
