AirAsia X dominates regional skies with rapid growth on the Kuala Lumpur–Almaty route. After one successful year of nonstop service between Southeast Asia and Central Asia, the airline now operates five weekly flights. Therefore, it aims to satisfy increasing demand and expand its reach in this high-potential market.
AirAsia X stands as the only carrier flying directly between Kuala Lumpur and Almaty. Since March 2024, it has transported over 100,000 passengers on this route. In fact, each flight consistently fills over 90% of its seats. As a result, the route proves essential for both business and leisure travelers from both regions.
To strengthen its position, the airline signed a strategic agreement with Almaty Tourism. This partnership not only promotes Almaty in Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia but also encourages more Central Asian visitors to explore Southeast Asia. Moreover, it builds visibility for Almaty and enhances tourism across both regions.
To mark the route’s anniversary, AirAsia X launched limited-time promotional fares. Passengers can enjoy 25% discounts on flights, along with 10% off checked baggage and 25% off seat selection. These deals, however, remain available only until 27 April 2025. Travelers can fly using these offers until 30 November 2025, making this the perfect time to book.
Furthermore, AirAsia X connects Almaty to over 130 cities worldwide through its Kuala Lumpur hub. Travelers can easily reach destinations like Bali, Langkawi, Penang, and Bangkok with smooth stopovers. Consequently, this expanded access boosts tourism and trade while offering more budget-friendly options.
Looking ahead, Malaysia plans to attract 45 million visitors as part of its Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign. Thus, the expansion of AirAsia X’s Almaty route directly supports this national target. With rising interest in Central Asia, the airline continues to open valuable travel and trade opportunities across borders.
