AirAsia will enforce stricter power bank rules on flights starting April 2025. These updates follow global aviation safety standards. The airline aims to prevent battery-related incidents and improve passenger safety.
Passengers must check their power banks before arriving at the airport. AirAsia allows only power banks up to 100 watt-hours (Wh) or 20,000 milliampere-hours (mAh). If the power bank is between 100Wh and 160Wh, travelers need approval at check-in.
New safety rules apply during flights. Travelers must store power banks under seats or in seat pockets. Overhead compartments are not allowed. Using power banks during flights is strictly banned, including for charging devices. Passengers must carry power banks in cabin baggage, as checked luggage storage is forbidden.
AirAsia will display safety reminders at check-in counters. Flight crews will also announce the rules before takeoff. These measures protect passengers, crew, and aircraft from potential hazards.
AirAsia remains committed to strict safety standards. These updated rules ensure a secure and smooth journey. Passengers should follow the guidelines and cooperate with airline staff. Adhering to these rules will create a safer travel experience for everyone.
