Alaska Airlines and Singapore Airlines will end their long-standing partnership on October 1, 2025, and this move will disrupt frequent flyers. Consequently, the decision will remove reciprocal mileage redemptions and restrict earning opportunities for many travelers.
Previously, the partnership gave passengers easy access to premium rewards and smooth travel between the U.S. and Asia-Pacific. Moreover, Alaska Airlines and Singapore Airlines created strong loyalty programs that allowed members to book flights using shared miles. Therefore, travelers enjoyed business-class seats on Singapore Airlines and explored U.S. destinations through Alaska’s extensive network.
However, the partnership will soon lose its most valuable feature: reciprocal redemptions. Starting October 2025, Atmos Rewards members cannot book Singapore Airlines flights with points. Likewise, KrisFlyer members will not use their miles on Alaska flights. As a result, travelers will see reduced loyalty value and fewer reward options.
In addition, earning rules will change significantly. Until August 31, 2025, members can earn miles at the current rate. Then, between September and December, they can still earn, but with strict limits. Finally, after January 1, 2026, travelers must book directly through Alaska’s website to earn any miles. Consequently, these changes will push customers toward direct booking channels.
Meanwhile, interline agreements will stay for combined itineraries, but the loyalty experience will not remain the same. Therefore, travelers who want Asia-Pacific connectivity through Alaska must consider other Oneworld carriers. Options like Cathay Pacific and Japan Airlines will offer better rewards for premium seats and smooth connections.
Ultimately, the end of this partnership signals a major shift in global loyalty programs. As a result, travelers will face more complex choices and fewer seamless benefits in the future.
