Alaska Airlines strengthens its bond with Portland sports by becoming the official airline for the city’s new WNBA team. It also renews its partnership with Portland Thorns FC, showing continued support for the community.
For over 40 years, Alaska Airlines has helped Portland grow. It has invested over $4.5 million in local nonprofits since 2017. The airline has also expanded Portland International Airport (PDX) into a major West Coast hub. Now, it operates over 100 daily departures to 58 nonstop destinations.
Fans wearing Thorns gear will enjoy priority boarding on all Alaska Airlines flights from Portland throughout 2025. The Thorns will also feature the airline’s logo on their jerseys, highlighting their strong partnership.
Alaska Airlines will launch a “Flight Fit Check” series with the Thorns’ media team. This collaboration will showcase players’ travel styles, giving fans an exclusive behind-the-scenes look. The airline also supports women’s empowerment through programs like the Thorns’ Women’s Coalition and Lead(HER)s of Tomorrow.
Portland’s WNBA team will debut in 2026 at the Moda Center. To celebrate, Alaska Airlines introduces the “Throws for Charity” campaign. For every successful free throw or three-pointer, it will donate miles to a nonprofit. This initiative strengthens the airline’s community commitment.
Fans can expect exclusive rewards, community-driven programs, and exciting in-game experiences. Alaska Airlines continues to bring Portland teams and supporters closer. The Thorns start their 2025 NWSL season on March 15 against the Kansas City Current. Portland’s WNBA team will hit the court in 2026.
