Alaska Airlines is expanding its presence at New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) by moving some flights to Terminal 8. As a result, travelers flying from the West Coast will experience improved connectivity and a smoother travel process. This change also aligns with the airline’s long-term strategy to enhance passenger convenience.
Starting March 30, flights from San Francisco and San Diego will now arrive at Terminal 8. Consequently, passengers must check-in and drop their bags at the Alaska Airlines counter in this terminal before proceeding to security. Additionally, first-class travelers can enjoy access to the Admirals Club. Meanwhile, those parking at Terminal 7 without premium access must use the Terminal 8 parking lot and take the AirTrain.
To better serve passengers, Alaska Airlines will operate a dedicated ticket counter at Terminal 8. However, this location will not offer CLEAR services or a children’s area. Fortunately, travelers can still benefit from TSA PreCheck, which provides one lane during off-peak hours and two during peak periods. Moreover, the terminal includes a partner lounge for premium guests.
Since Terminal 8 is already home to major airlines like American Airlines, British Airways, and Qatar Airways, Alaska Airlines joins a strong network of Oneworld alliance members. Meanwhile, Hawaiian Airlines, which was recently acquired by Alaska Airlines, continues operating from Terminal 4, maintaining its existing network.
Alaska Airlines remains committed to strengthening its New York-JFK connections. With frequent flights from Seattle, San Francisco, and San Diego, the airline ensures passengers have flexible options. Notably, Seattle and San Francisco routes remain the busiest, offering four flights each day.
In addition to operational changes, Terminal 8 is undergoing a $125 million redevelopment. As part of this effort, travelers will soon experience expanded shopping and dining options. Furthermore, this project follows a previous $400 million upgrade completed in 2022. Together, these improvements will create a world-class airport experience while supporting local businesses.
