Alaska Airlines has partnered with Loft Dynamics to launch a groundbreaking virtual reality (VR) simulator for Boeing 737 pilots. This partnership brings advanced technology to aviation training, transforming how pilots prepare for real-world flights. The new VR simulator will create an immersive, realistic environment to enhance pilot training at Alaska Airlines.
The system incorporates extended reality (XR) features, offering full-motion, 360-degree training. Through its Alaska Star Ventures division, the airline shows its commitment to technological progress. The simulator replicates real flight conditions, allowing pilots to practice critical situations safely and efficiently.
Alaska Airlines will also share expertise from its flight operations team to tailor the simulator to its specific needs. This collaboration ensures that the simulator matches the airline’s exact training requirements. It will be installed at various training centers to give flight crews a top-tier learning experience. The simulator’s compact design saves space and boosts training efficiency.
Additionally, the LoftSPATIAL app for Apple Vision Pro will integrate spatial computing to increase interactivity during training. Once completed, the simulator will seek approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), with certification expected soon. This investment reflects Alaska Airlines’ dedication to providing its pilots with the latest tools and techniques for enhanced safety and performance.
