Avelo Airlines is making changes to its flight network by cutting three routes due to low demand. The airline, based in Houston, will stop these services on April 28. Two of the affected routes launched last fall, while the third had not even begun.
The first canceled route is the nonstop service between Hartford’s Bradley International Airport and Daytona Beach International Airport. Avelo Airlines introduced this flight on November 8, 2024, but it failed to attract enough travelers. The second discontinued route connected Lakeland Linder International Airport in Florida to Manchester-Boston Regional Airport in New Hampshire. This service, which started in late October 2024, also did not generate sufficient interest. Additionally, the airline scrapped plans for a new route from Hartford to Concord-Padgett Regional Airport in North Carolina. This route was originally set to launch in early April.
Avelo Airlines has been adjusting its operations in Hartford for some time. The airline had already reduced several flights from the city. Instead of expanding there, it will now focus on international flights from Hartford while strengthening domestic operations in New Haven. This shift aligns with the airline’s broader strategy in Connecticut.
Although Avelo Airlines is cutting these routes, it continues to grow in other areas. The airline recently announced 13 new routes, including 10 from North Carolina. It also launched a new base at Concord-Padgett on March 6. Another base will open at Wilmington International Airport on April 3, further strengthening its presence in the region.
Avelo Airlines remains focused on strategic expansion despite these route adjustments. The company is actively developing new markets and optimizing its network to ensure long-term success.
