avianca, the Colombian flagship carrier, is relocating to Terminal 6 (T6) at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). This change is part of the airport’s $19 billion modernization effort, set to open in 2026. avianca is the first Latin American airline to join the prestigious list of carriers operating from T6.
The move will significantly enhance avianca’s efficiency. Passengers will benefit from advanced biometric check-in and a layout designed for speed, ensuring less than five minutes between security and gates. T6 will also offer a range of dining, shopping, and entertainment options inspired by New York City’s vibrant culture. Sustainability efforts, such as eco-friendly technologies, will minimize the terminal’s environmental impact.
This transition strengthens avianca’s role in the growing market between the U.S. and Latin America. The terminal’s modern facilities will improve the travel experience, especially for passengers connecting to Bogotá and El Salvador. avianca’s fleet of Airbus A320s will continue to serve up to 10 daily flights from JFK to Central and South America.
JFK’s Terminal 6 move enhances both avianca’s services and the airport’s global reputation. As part of JFK’s ongoing expansion, this new terminal will offer a streamlined, premium travel experience for passengers flying across the Americas.
