Big Decision: China Airlines Mulls 777X or A350-1000 for USA Flights

China Airlines plans to order new aircraft, choosing between the Boeing 777X or Airbus A350-1000. The airline aims to grow its US market and high-density regional routes. Currently, China Airlines flies Boeing 777s and Airbus A350s to New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.

The airline wants to replace its 10 Boeing 777-300ERs, though they are only about nine years old. These jets may soon be swapped for more fuel-efficient models. China Airlines keeps refreshing its fleet with new Boeing 787s, Airbus A350s for long-haul flights, and A321neos for shorter routes. This shows the airline’s focus on a modern fleet.

China Airlines relies on the Boeing 777-300ER to run its US network, mainly for New York and San Francisco flights. Recently, it restarted flights between Taipei and Seattle, using the Airbus A350 for this route. As China Airlines grows, it will carefully pick between the 777X and A350-1000.

The airline’s decision focuses on operational needs. It won’t be affected by the upcoming US election. China Airlines commits to modernizing its fleet while staying efficient and customer-focused.
